Mission Statement

What do you stand for?  What do you want to be known for?  Why do you get out of bed everyday,?  How do you want to help others?  Most importantly, does your lifestyle currently align with your vision?

I bet the answer isnt to work a job that you hate just to get the bare minimum done and look forward to the weekend.  It’s probably not to ignore you’re kids or yell at them.  Also, it’s not to skip the gym and go to happy hour everyday.  It’s not to fight with your family, or… you get the point.

Don’t misunderstand stand, I’m not suggesting that you leave you job tomorrow.  I’m asking, how can you live your purpose within the parameters of your complicated life?  Try to change the way you view your circumstances before analyzing what needs to be cut out of your life.

Many companies have a mission statement which keeps the organization focused on the core values of the company.   Why not have your own mission statement to keep yourself grounded in everything that you do?  This is my mission statement:

‘My purpose in life is to utilize my exceptional God given talents to serve and enhance the lives of the people around me with the gifts of love, honesty, laughter, and understanding.’

Years ago I developed this mission statement as to keep me focused on what my purpose truly is.  I apply this to everything I do from my managment career, to my home life as a father of 4, and everything in between.  I make sure that no matter what I am doing in life, I am living my mission everyday and doing whatever I can to teach and support others.

I suggest writing your own mission statement.  What is your purpose?  What values are most important to you?  Write them down and continue to edit it until you can make a one sentence mission statement.  Then commit to living your life and being true to yourself.  It may sound simple, but sometimes the simplest things have the greatest impact.

Never stop believing in yourself!  Talk to you soon ๐Ÿ™‚

  1. You have done an exceptional job living by your mission statement! I’m very proud of you. I love how you continuously challenge otherwise while striving to improve yourself. You lead through example. I’m proud to follow suit.

  2. It’s actually this line of thinking – this focus on a mission statement, and living by one’s own principles – that lead me to working out a lot of crucial things about myself and what I want to with my life. That I’m not a Muslim. That I’m trans. That I want to get into game design. All that.

I’m glad that you’re spreading this kind of message, because at some point, it becomes time to look inward, and start asking yourself the big questions: who are you, and what do you want? Only after answering those will you be ready to live a life you’ll be happy with.

  3. I have a life motto which I sign off my posts with, simple but meaningful to me. Your mission statement is great, each person will find what resonates with them, whether it is a word, sentence or image. Everyone has a purpose and hope that 2018 is the year that everyone is able to live out their purpose! Peace and blessings! ๐Ÿ™‚
